Due to the values of human-oriented, customization and diverse development, Transdisciplinary Program in College of Education encourages transdisciplinary learnings. Students enroll as non-majors during their first two undergraduate years. Based on learner- centered implementation, students are requisite of being familiar with basic theories in education. After one-and-half-year or two-year non-major program, students are expected to apply for their majors, including Education, Educational Psychology and Counseling, Adult & Continuing Education, Health Promotion and Health Education, Civic Education and Leadership, Human Development & Family Studies, and Learning Sciences, at the first or second semester of the sophomore year. Moreover, students can declare a minor or claim double major at the second semester of each academic year. Through their full-scale professional learnings at the freshman and sophomore year as non-majors, followed by two more years of advanced studies at those six departments and one program in College of Education, students can develop multifaceted professional expertise and competence to pursue further higher learnings as well as promising jobs in the future.
Transdisciplinary Program in College of Education builds a platform for students to explore their interests, assists them in applying for majors after one-and-half or two-year learnings, and raises the possibilities of choosing the majors proper to their competence accordingly.Besides, the Program aims to break boundaries from individual disciplines to integrate interdisciplinary knowledge and technology.Through a well-organized scheme, students can get better understanding of not only the departments but themselves, and then apply for suitable majors as well as secure jobs.
